Day 3 - 3rd Feb 2011

Waiwaapuka Bay (Army Bay), Moturua Island to Hole in the Wall at Cape Brett and on to Whale Bay.
Departed 11.30 arrived 16.00 - Total 20 nautical miles!
Today we set off under power from our first anchorage. Hole in the Wall loomed large in the distance at Cape Brett with its white lighthouse at the point and cathedral caves. The seas were calm and several fishing boats out - passed two guys on jetskis with their poles! Spotted a small blue penguin on our way. Divers were down as we approached the caves - waters deep and the cliffs sheer. As we cruised up along the side of the hole in the rock we watched a small power boat pass through. We came round onto the Pacific side where the wind picked up and we sailed off on a starboard tack on a close reach. I took the helm and as wind gained in strength and we were heeled at about 20 degrees, sailing at 6 knots. We saw a turtle, plenty of sea birds and a large flying fish. When we arrived at Whale Bay (last one in as we went to Hole in the Wall alone!) had to attempt a stern "cloverleaf" raft to other two boats - see the photos from top of the mast as one of the crew went up in Boson's chair and took some great shots!
